Welikande Estate is a multi purpose Venue in the center of the Paradise Island of Sri Lanka, set in 12 acres of grounds including 2 pools. We can cater for upto 35 guests in our 20 rooms and 3 Shalas.

The Shalas are suitable for all weathers and dedicated to each group the Main shala can take 25 guests on mats, Victoria folly Shala can take 30 guests Lake view can take 12 guests
Each Shala comes with Mats, bolsters, blankets and straps and a Stereo system
There are also tables chairs, a projector and screen.
Coffee and tea making facilities are provided.

We try very hard to heat all our water in the rooms by solar power.
We have a grey water catchment tank which is then recycled to the gardens.
Led bulbs are used everywhere.
There is no air-conditioning, only fans in the rooms it is not necessary as we are at 1000 meters height in the mountains.
Any waste food is composted.
Our long term goal to produce our own solar electricity

Welcome to Welikande Estate, a multi-purpose wellness and retreat venue nestled in the heart of Sri Lanka, just 25 km east of the historic hill city of Kandy. Perched above Victoria Lake and offering panoramic views of the Knuckles Mountain Range National Park, our 12-acre estate is a haven of peace, nature, and cultural immersion.
We are 135 km from Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo) we’re happy to arrange transport from either the airport or Kandy.

Welikande Estate has been lovingly run for over 12 years by Michael and Thushari as a yoga retreat Together with our passionate local team, we offer guests a unique blend of well-being, culture, and community.

Our dining room is on a covered veranda and overlooks the Knuckles mountains
The maximum we an seat is 40 on the veranda and a further 20 inside.
The Kitchen is open plan with a heated serving area.
Outdoor
The swimming pool has sunbed and umbrellas it overlooks Lake Victoria and the Knuckles mountains.
There are nature walks around the property leading up to the meditation Shala

Even though we live in a rural area there are many cultural and natural things to do from waterfalls to cookery experiences in the paddy fields or a visit to the UNESCO city of Kandy.
