Covered open-air yoga and movement space for up to 10 guests, suitable for yoga, Pilates, breath work, meditation and workshops. Located alongside the gym, both spaces can be used together or arranged to suit different movement practices and retreat activities. Yoga mats, blocks, straps, bolsters and cushions provided.

Eco practices

From the outset, The Sevana was designed to work with the landscape rather than reshape it. The natural surroundings have been retained beyond the building footprint, with native planting throughout the estate. We source ingredients from our gardens and local producers where possible, use energy-efficient LED lighting and provide refillable drinking water to reduce single-use plastics.

Description

The Sevana is an exclusive-use retreat venue on Sri Lanka's south coast, purposefully created for small, intimate retreats where the setting becomes part of the experience. Set within three acres of tropical gardens and paddy views, the property accommodates up to 10 guests in five spacious standalone cabanas, each with an ensuite bathroom, air conditioning and private veranda. Connected by their own garden pathways, the cabanas offer guests privacy, while the central two-storey pavilion provides a natural place to gather for meals, workshops and shared experiences.

Designed with retreat hosting in mind, The Sevana offers a covered yoga and movement space, swimming pool, gym, private chef and a range of indoor and outdoor spaces that can be adapted to suit different retreat styles. A separate three-bedroom host house provides dedicated accommodation for retreat leaders and support staff.

Located close to beaches, surf breaks, wildlife and cultural experiences, The Sevana is well suited to wellness, movement, creative, leadership and personal development retreats.

Alongside welcoming private retreat groups, we also host our own women-only surf retreats, giving us a genuine understanding of the practicalities of retreat hosting and the importance of creating an exceptional guest experience.

Bedrooms

Five spacious standalone cabanas (approx. 50 sqm), each with an open, ensuite bathroom, rain shower, air conditioning, private veranda, indoor seating, writing desk, tea and coffee facilities, mini fridge, and walk-in wardrobe/storage. Configurable as king or twin rooms for up to 10 guests. Separate host accommodation for 3 pax is available for retreat leaders and support staff.

Bathrooms

Each of the five cabanas has its own ensuite bathroom with a rain shower. A guest washroom is located within the main pavilion for use during meals, workshops and activities. The separate three-bedroom host house includes one ensuite bathroom and one additional shared bathroom for retreat leaders and support staff.

Cleaning

Daily housekeeping is provided for all guest accommodation, with complimentary bathroom toiletries, fresh towels and linen provided throughout your stay. Communal areas are maintained daily, and cleaning schedules can be adapted to fit around your retreat programme.

Catering

Our private chefs prepare three meals a day on-site using fresh, seasonal ingredients, many sourced from our gardens and local producers. Menus can be tailored to suit your retreat, with vegetarian, vegan and other dietary requirements catered for. We'll work with you to create a dining experience that reflects the style of your retreat.

Kitchen and Dining room

Meals are prepared on-site by our private chef, with menus tailored to your retreat. The open-air dining area seats up to 14 guests and can be arranged as one large communal table or smaller tables to suit your group. The upstairs pavilion provides a relaxed lounge space, ideal for morning coffee, afternoon tea, evening drinks or informal gatherings.

Outdoor

Set within three acres of tropical gardens and paddy views, The Sevana offers a variety of outdoor spaces for both relaxation and gathering. Every cabana has its own private veranda, while the estate also features a swimming pool with sun loungers and poolside seating, plus a covered terrace with comfortable lounge seating overlooking the pool.

Many experiences can be hosted at The Sevana itself, from massage treatments and sound healing to cooking experiences, traditional drumming and botanical workshops. Beyond the estate, guests can enjoy surfing, safaris, whale watching, cultural experiences, tea plantations, temples and beaches.
