Description
The Beecher House, just 138 miles from NYC, occupies a singular natural environment that is difficult to replicate.
• Beecher Lake — the highest lake in the Catskills — steps away from the house and deck
• 1,400 acres of protected wilderness surrounding the Dai Bosatsu Zendo monastery grounds
• Pristine forest, rushing mountain creek, abundant wildlife: beavers, bald eagles, deer, black bear, trout
• Profound natural stillness — no traffic, no light pollution — and a night sky dense with stars, married with the daily rhythms of the Buddhist bonshō bell and han, calling those present to stillness
• Elegant living room with 19th-century fireplace, lake-facing with mural and natural light
• Expands seamlessly into the solarium for larger group sessions
• Dining Room configured for family-style and buffet service, also with access to the solarium
• Professional commercial vegetarian kitchen — available with or without chef
• Lake swimming and non-motorized boating on Beecher Lake
• Lakeside walking trail — gentle, accessible, reflective
• Dai Bosatsu Zendo — the oldest Rinzai Zen monastery in the US — is a short walk up the hill
• Monastery staff may, by arrangement, be able to provide introductory guidance in Zen meditation and contemplative practice

• Yoga, reiki, Shiatsu, bodywork and other immersive practice weekends
