Practice on the river deck under trees by the flowing river, or in our indoor yoga sanctuary, fully equipped with premium mats, bolsters, blocks, and eye pillows for up to 20 students. Pause on the sunset deck for golden-hour meditations, or find stillness in the circular meditation room for quiet reflection and journaling.

Eco practices

Beyond giving 100% of our profits to our local children’s bush camp, Sashwa is fully plant-based. We run on solar, filter our own water, and source vegetables from our permaculture garden or nearby village families. We are part of an integrated network that uplifts local communities, conservation, and nature education, working together to support people, wildlife, and the land.

Description

As a social enterprise, Sashwa River of Stars was founded as the backbone of Koru Camp, a local children’s bush education camp. All profits go to give South African children the chance to see their first elephant and connect with the wonders of nature.

Daily flows at Sashwa include yoga and meditation on the riverfront deck, walks into the bush with our guide to observe and learn, moments of silent reflection, and plant-based gourmet breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks designed to nurture the body, mind, and soul. Afternoons are for game drives across the savannah, encountering elephants and giraffes, and pausing with a quiet sunset drink as the sky turns gold.

Wellness facilities include an infrared sauna, saltwater swimming pool, massage treatments, a gym, and, at night, a starbath to watch the Milky Way from your warm outdoor bath.

The lodge is a safe and welcoming space for all kinds of retreats. There is space to gather, to explore, to reflect, and to move in rhythm with the land. When you enter the gates, you arrive home.

12 rooms, 7 convertible to twins. Wake up to river views or garden serenity. Each suite is thoughtfully designed for comfort, privacy, and a true wilderness retreat.

All suites feature en-suite bathrooms with rain showers, air-conditioning, cotton bathrobes, and locally sourced toiletries. Premier Suites add freestanding baths with river or garden views.

Cleaning

Daily housekeeping keeps suites clean and comfortable. Additional services like laundry are available on request for a seamless, relaxing stay.

Catering

Sashwa has a 100% plant-based menu designed to nurture the body and soul. Delicious and colourful.
With ingredients from our permaculture garden and community families, food is fresh and seasonal.

Dine inside or on the covered outdoor terrace overlooking the Olifants River. Tables suit both private meals and shared experiences under Africa’s night sky.

Deposit Policy: Upon confirmation of the booking, a 20% non-refundable deposit is required. 45 Days prior to arrival, full pre-payment is due. Cancellation Policy: (received + acknowledged by Sashwa by email) 20% cancellation applies if cancelled 45 days or more before arrival 100% cancellation if cancelled within 45 days of arrival.
