60sqm studio, well lit, with 3 large windows and 2 skylights. The view is south towards the Pyrenees and the sacred mountain of Pic de Bugurach. We have mats, bolsters (10), straps, cushions and blankets. The floor is wood, the ceiling is insulated against cold and heat, and there is a wood burning stove, an alter/shrine with a good supply of candles, and also a harmonium and large Djembe.

Eco practices

Everything we eat or drink is 100% organic, locally produced and in season. In our garden we have fruit trees and bushes, herbs, tomatoes, strawberries, kale, squashes, and many other veggies. We have composting toilets in the bathrooms, following the Humanure method of Joseph Jenkins. We compost this wonderful living fertiliser for 2 years. We also use local spring water from Alet les Bains.

Description

Santosha Yoga is an eco-friendly family run Yoga Retreat Centre, situated in the small village of Conilhac de La Montagne, in the high Aude Valley. We can accommodate 14 people comfortably (15 max) with possible private accommodation for the teachers. As yoga should be available to everyone, we have affordable, but very beautiful dorm type rooms. As well as hosting yoga groups, we have enjoyed walking groups and other groups providing personal growth and healing since opening our centre in 2012.

We have a 60 sqm yoga studio with windows that look south over the vineyards towards the distant peaks of the Pyrenees, and a 28 sqm roof terrace that is perfect for sunrises, meditation, or morning yoga practice. The proud locals call their village the ¨Balcony of the Pyrenees¨, the views from the roof terrace are panoramic and quite stunning.

There are numerous terraces for dining outside, a peaceful walled organic vegetable garden where guests can enjoy the serenity of nature, and a very cosy covered outside area for gatherings. The communal salon and dining room, situated in the lower level of the house, are also all at your disposal for group activities.

There are many short and longer walks from the house, through vineyards, up over hills and to adjacent villages. With the nearby walks, and the multiple areas within the venue for our guests to utilise, there is always somewhere beautiful to be with others or to be alone if you wish. The local market every Sunday morning is also a fun experience not to be missed. Free teacher place with every 6 paying guests.

Esperaza 10 mins by car. The larger town of Limoux 15mins by car. There are no shops etc in our village.

Nearest Station

The closest station is Limoux Gare, We can collet you from here free of charge. There is a 1€ train (sometimes bus) that will take you from Carcassonne (SNCF etc) to Limoux Gare. See website.
