North Iceland is the ideal location for yogis, adventurers, retreat leaders and other travel enthusiasts who desire an authentic experience at the heart of this magical country. Away from the mainstream tourism of Reykjavik, we take you to the town of Akureyri, Iceland’s second largest city (population = 18,000). Once one of Iceland’s best kept secrets, Akureyri offers a mild climate and bucolic, picturesque landscape.
Across the fjord you will find a historic landmark marked by a large stone and anchor marks the place where, according to Icelandic folklore, the Vikings originally landed in Iceland. On this beautiful property now lies our newly built wellness center and event hosting property designed specifically to welcome yoga, wellness and other healing groups and retreats.
The center offers a large meeting space / yoga room (space for 30+ yoga mats), massage rooms, a meditation / relaxation hall, showers, changing rooms, a large dry sauna and an outdoor geothermic jacuzzi. The space is fully equipped with yoga mats, blocks, straps blankets and more. Overlooking the fjord and mountains, on a clear dark night you can enjoy the stars and perhaps even glimpse the Northern Lights!
Retreat weeks are typically Saturday to Saturday. We only host one group at a time. Housing is provided just across the fjord in modern 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and meals are provided in a local cafe that is walking distance from the apartments.
